A .577 (2 1/2IN.) SNIDER MK III BREECH LOADING SPORTING RIFLE BY R. B. RODDA, no visible serial number, circa 1875, with 21in. London proofed barrel fitted with blade front-sight and leaf rear-sights, the top engraved ' R. B. RODDA / GUNMAKERS TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE VICEROY / LONDON & CALCUTTA', the Mk III positive bolt locked breech has been modified and extended and the breech aperture also lengthened exposing the action threads, modifying the rifle to accept the .577 2 1/2in. cartridge, sporting style lock with engraved border decoration and retailers name 'R. B. RODDA & CO', the rifle has been restocked, is fitted with iron scroll trigger-guard, iron nose-cap and barrel band, brass butt-plate.
